The Charles Taylor Somerford Large Deep Root Planter is designed to provide extra depth for healthy root development, making it ideal for herbs, vegetables and plants that benefit from deeper soil. Its raised design reduces bending and makes planting, tending and harvesting more comfortable.

Made from FSC-sourced timber and treated with a water-repellent preservative, this planter is built for dependable outdoor use in the British climate. Supplied with drainage slats to promote healthy growth, it can also be lined with a heavy-duty refuse bag or weed membrane if required. Measuring 823mm wide x 470mm deep x 900mm high and weighing 21kg, it offers an approximate planting volume of 150 litres, providing generous capacity in a more compact footprint than the extra-large version.

Product Details & Care

Your planter is supplied with one coat of a water-repellent preservative treatment. To help protect and extend the life of the timber, we recommend applying a suitable wood preservative periodically, depending on exposure and weather conditions. All compatible aftercare products are available from our online store.

Wood is a natural material and may expand or contract depending on weather conditions. As a result, natural characteristics such as cracking, splitting, warping or shrinkage may occur and cannot be considered faults. Periodic checking of fixings is recommended.

Occasionally, resin may appear in the timber. This is a natural occurrence and does not affect performance. If present, it can be removed using a cloth and white spirit.
