The Charles Taylor Prestbury Raised Rectangular Trough (Regular) is a compact yet practical planter, ideal for flowers, herbs and smaller planting schemes. Its raised rectangular design offers easy access while creating a neat, structured look for patios, gardens and outdoor seating areas.

Crafted from FSC-sourced timber and treated with an oil-based, water-repellent preservative, this trough is designed for reliable outdoor use in the British climate. Integrated drainage slats support healthy root growth, and the trough can be lined with a heavy-duty refuse bag or weed membrane if required. Measuring 570mm wide x 330mm deep x 420mm high and weighing 7.5kg, it provides an approximate planting volume of 40 litres, making it easy to position while offering useful planting space.

Product Details & Care

Your trough is supplied with one coat of the ‘Taylor Brown’ oil-based preservative. To help protect and extend the life of the timber, we strongly recommend applying an additional coat every 6–12 months. All suitable preservatives and aftercare products are available from our online store.

Wood is a natural material and may expand or contract depending on weather conditions. As a result, natural characteristics such as cracking, splitting, warping or shrinkage may occur and cannot be considered faults. Periodic checking of fixings is recommended.

Occasionally, resin may appear in the timber. This is a natural occurrence and does not affect performance. If present, it can be removed using a cloth and white spirit.
